Profile: Kenny Dykstra
Prior to joining the Raw brand full-time as a member of the Spirit Squad, Ken Doane made his first appearance on the show in May 2003 as jobber Ken Phoenix. Alongside brother Mike Phoenix, he was squashed by Rodney Mack as part of his Five-Minute White Boy Challenge. Doane then spent two years in WWE developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling, where he won the Television Championship and was packaged in with the male cheerleading faction that debuted on Raw in January 2006.
Along with Johnny, Mitch, Nicky and Mikey, Kenny performed insulting cheers directed at various babyfaces, supporting the likes of Jonathan Coachman and the McMahons. In particular, The Spirit Squad served as hired guns for Vince and Shane McMahon during their feud with D-Generation X that year. After losing a 5-on-3 handicap match to Ric Flair and DX members Shawn Michaels and Triple H in November however, the group were bundled into a shipping crate labelled, "OVW, Louisville, Kentucky," and sent off television.
During their time as a faction on Raw, The Spirit Squad became World Tag Team Champions when Kenny and Mikey - illegally helped by the other three members - defeated Kane and The Big Show. Due to their relationship with the McMahons, it was ruled that all five members held the championship, with any combination of two allowed to defend the gold in each match. As a unit, they went on to hold the titles for 216 days, the longest reign since that of Owen Hart and The British Bulldog in 1996/7, ultimately losing to Ric Flair and Roddy Piper at Cyber Sunday.
Following The Spirit Squad's shipping back to OVW, Kenny was the only one to remain on Raw, adopting the surname Dykstra to continue feuding with Ric Flair, and has since served intermittently as a midcard heel, spending most of his time on the B-show of the Raw brand, Heat.
